FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Quick answers about mobile notary services in San Diego County — pricing, what to bring, hospital signings, loan signings, and more. Don't see your question? Call Andre — he answers personally.
Do you really come to me 24/7?
Yes. I serve all of San Diego County around the clock — evenings, weekends, holidays, and urgent same-day requests. After-hours and hospital, airport, or jail signings may include a small additional convenience fee, always quoted upfront.
How much does a mobile notary cost?
California sets the maximum notarial act fee at $15 per notarized signature. My travel fee ranges from $40 to $70 depending on your ZIP code. You'll get a full upfront quote by phone or text before I leave.
What ID do I need to have notarized?
Each signer needs a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID. Most common acceptable IDs:
• California driver's license or ID card
• U.S. passport
• Foreign passport stamped by USCIS
• Inmate ID (for jail signings)
If you don't have an ID, two credible witnesses with valid ID can confirm your identity instead.
Can you notarize at a hospital or care facility?
Yes — bedside signings for power of attorney, advance health care directives, and similar documents are routine for me. The signer must be conscious, able to communicate their wishes, and able to sign or direct the signing. Please call ahead so we can discuss the situation.
Do I need to print my documents before you arrive?
For general notary work, yes — please have your documents printed and ready. For loan signings I print the package as part of the service. If you can't print, mention it when you call and we can discuss options.
Can a notary give legal advice?
No. A notary public verifies identity and witnesses signatures — we cannot draft documents, choose certificate wording, or give legal advice. If you're unsure what kind of notarization your document needs, consult an attorney first.
Se habla español: No soy abogado y, por lo tanto, no puedo darle asesoría legal.
What is a loan signing agent?
A loan signing agent is a notary public certified and trained to walk borrowers through real estate loan packages — refinances, purchases, HELOCs, reverse mortgages. I'm NNA Certified, background-checked, and experienced with the full document set. Learn more →
Can you notarize for someone in jail?
Yes, with proper coordination. Jail signings require advance scheduling with the facility, the inmate's valid inmate ID, and approved documents. Call to discuss timing and what the facility requires.
Do you offer apostille service?
I don't process apostilles directly, but I can refer you to a trusted apostille service that handles documents through the California Secretary of State. Call or text and I'll connect you with the right resource for your situation (foreign adoption, international business, vital records, etc.).
Can a notary officiate my wedding?
No — California notaries cannot officiate weddings. Only deputy commissioners of civil marriage (or licensed ministers) can. For wedding ceremonies, contact the San Diego County Clerk's office or hire a wedding officiant.
